New and truly IMPROVED because it is made of a better grade aluminum and the off-set hole spiral configuration, with 2 additional holes, greatly improves design creations. No more worrying about the thumb screws getting in the way of the mandrel; there are 10 holes in the off-set plate making it possible to use screws anywhere around the plates. *Note: the mandrel in this kit does not have the self-tapping flute/slit in the threads. You can use any of my self-tapping mandrels, however you must be very careful when threading them into the off-set plate. If there is any resistance, back it out and start again, do not force it because you will be cross threading the plate. You know if you will be aware of this or not.
**New addition are the 3 “Buttons”. As the photo shows, double-face tape the wood blank to the button, thread it in the off-set hole and either keep the mandrel in the center or get a double off-set design with the mandrel in one of the off-set holes. I made the pendant and 1 earring and was impressed how great it did the same design on the 2″ and 1 1/4″ discs. Normally you have to fiddle with the setting to get a smaller diameter disc to get the same cuts as a larger one. These “Buttons” were designed by Jerry Sowers.
To make stoppers, openers, can tab lifters or knobs for boxes or unique cabinet knobs, use the bolt in the index plate as shown in the picture.

I like this jig a lot. The machine and build quality is top tier. There’s a lot of home made jigs out there that work just fine. I decided to splurge a bit and get the Joyner jig, happy I did because it has so much capacity for patterns. That’s a 2 edged sword for me though. I’ve made some nice pendants, but it’s been hit or miss on patterns. The spread sheet and other papers on how to use this is not resonating with me. I’d like a couple of step by step pendant designs- with specific holes specified to get me started. Maybe that would give me more insight into how to make different patterns. It might be me, but the learning curve is a little steep.
Ward Wilson –
I received the jig very quickly after ordering it. The jig works great and I have already sold an off center turned wine bottle stopper, the materials also provided by ways of Niles. I very pleased with the results.
Thanks Carl and Robin
Christof Hoeing –
I am absoluteley happy with the offset jig. Exactly what I was looking for but had not found here in Germany. Now I am one of (I guess) few German wood turners who can create phantastic patterns easily and reproducable. Many thanks to Carl for top service and communication!
Todd DeLong –
I bought this offset center jig several months ago. I finally got around to using it and found it to be a fun new “toy”. For me there was some trial and error before I made my first usable piece, but I’m really happy with the unique results you get from this tool.
My only suggestion for Carl and Robin would be to charge a couple bucks more for the kit and put it in a case of some sort, or have the option of adding a case. Thanks.
Byron Patterson –
So after wanting the off set jig for a long time I finally broke down and purchased it. My first piece was a pendent that turned out pretty darn good for my first time. Now to play with the different off sets and make more (I am not one for reading at the guides I just gotta play with it).
Jim Tutin –
To tell the truth I haven’t had the chance to do a lot, however I am impressed at how easy the jig is to use. How well made it is and the mind blowing number of combinations available.
I bought it as part of my retirement plan but until January I am still working and only able to use it some weekends however I have shown it to some other woodturners and they seem to like also.
Roger Wayman –
I purchased the Joyner off center jig after seeing a remote demonstration in January of this year. It works very well for small jewelry pieces just using double sided tape.
Mitch Myers –
Overall, I really like the product. It’s a lot more accurate than homemade jigs. I use it all the time for making pendants.
My only suggestion would be to leave off the red anodizing. It seems to be very easy to scratch it up with a tool. Bare aluminum with black letters would look nice.
Tod Raines, Woodturning Tool Store –
I can say that the purchase process, the shipping time frame and the packaging are all top rate. Thanks and well done. I bought several things but I recently made the meat tenderizer and chicken pounder kits. I used the off-center jig to create a couple of handles for the meat pounder/tenderizer. These are fantastic so I made a set as a gift for our family doctor (a friend as well).
Marc Dagues –
Your off center is an engenious an interesting product for small and short pieces
Frank Stockbridge, TN –
I purchased the Off Center Jig and I’m very happy with it. Product quality is great but better than that is the customer service you receive from Ruth. I look forward to trying Ruth’s bottle stopper kit.
Chuck Stefanato Canadian Scrollworks –
Just ordered the new 10 hole offset jig plate and buttons. Shipping was very fast. The items are well-made and fit the old baseplate very well. Ruth goes out of her way to ensure the best possible customer experience. Thank you very much Ruth!
George McCombs –
I love turning the pendants on this jig, it is so much safer than the other ways I’ve seen it done.
I will definitely be recommending it to other wood turners.
Jimmy Ellis –
Well designed, solidly built, and very customizable for many different patterns or oddball turnings. Gives me a fun new way to decorate container lids, and pendants make bottle stoppers and various other items.
Steven Kotz –
I really like the off-center jig. It is very well designed and made. In spite of all the training information provided and the online videos available (the best is Ed Davidson’s) I still found that getting the knack of how it all works and what’s possible with it a bit of a steep learning curve. I also have the original version of the jig from several years back and rediscovered the original detailed instructions that came with it and that helped me a lot!. For those of us who are a little more “challenged” by highly engineered tooling, the more detailed and specific learning tools available the better. I highly recommend this jig.
Anne Ogg –
I will rave about the Joyner Off Center kit. What fun! Once I got over my confusion about how to hook it up, I had such fun off center turning.
Tom Puskar –
I used the Off-Set jig right after I purchased it a year or more ago but haven’t used it in a while. Now that my granddaughters are “of age” for jewelry, I think I’ll give it another go.
Wayne Hale –
I was very impressed with the packaging when I opened my shipment and extremely pleased with the quality of the items
Lorin Bartels –
I purchased the Joyner jig and have been very happy with it. Would recomend it to other turners.
Paul Swaney –
Your products are great I have been using the off set jig almost everyday what a great contraption
Quentin DeWitt –
This Joyner jig is very cool. Right now I complete each pendant one at a time. I was thinking that it might be quicker to purchase multiple plates so that I could say finish four or five pendants at a time and somehow reduce my time spent screwing/unscrewing. Or maybe I just need to relax and enjoy the ride.
Jim McTavish in MN –
I just wanted to let you know how much I like the Joyner jig I purchased several months ago. Last night at our local woodturners meeting, I gave a pendant turning demo using it. The demo went well, and several people expressed interest in the jig.
Colin Knight-Griffin –
The pendant turning jig is very well made, so the product is very acceptable. I’m glad I was put in touch with you through Eddie Castelin. I remember you telling me that it was complicated to work. Reading 25 pages of instructions and ideas is much to digest at one sitting. However, it all makes sense and anyone with a modicum of mathematics can get through the necessary steps to put it to work. As I say, the piece is beautifully made and all connections mesh perfectly.
Grayson deBlasi –
I was reading through your site and I want to say that I really admire what you do. The Excel tool for visualizing the results is awesome and the support you provide to the artists that purchase your products is really nice to see. I also enjoyed reading your bio and was really impressed by your commitment to getting your products made and putting out a better version than what had been available before.
Thanks for everything you do for the crafting community!
Robert Roehrig –
people need to see that these jigs can go way beyond pendant making and are very versatile. I can do the same things with this jig that the $300 Vermec offset jig can do
Matt Harber –
I have purchased several products and have enjoyed all of them. I especially find the off-center Joyner jig to be a marvelous tool, offering lots of room for creativity and innovation, precisely manufactured, and highly useful. I have some ideas for exploring the more difficult aspects of it, at some point, but have not yet gotten to those ideas yet.
Tom –
This is a great product if you do offset turning. Wheter bottle stoppers, ornaments, jewlry, etc you will find this one of the best tools in your arsenal.
Buy the original and the best !!
Ed Cypher –
I have loved everything I have purchased from you and it is all made so well. I think I have brought at least 3 generations of pendant jigs and each one is better than the last. Thanks for making such great stuff.
Bruce Willard –
Haven’t got to use this product yet but the design and instrutions looke great. Shipping was great.
